January 3rd

Today's passage from the Chronological Bible In a Year Reading Plan is  Genesis 8-11
Today's scripture focus is Hebrews 1:10-14

He also says, “In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will never end.”  To which of the angels did God ever say, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”? Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

The writer quotes Psalm 102:25-27 and Psalm 110:1 to testify to the deity of Jesus Christ and, therefore, His superiority to the angels.

He remains the same - forever.  What comfort there is in that!

Tomorrow's scripture focus: Hebrews 2:1-4
Tomorrow's Bible in a Year passage: Job 1-5

As we're approaching New Year Resolutions and "self-improvement" how awesome it is that we have a God that never needs to change. Acceptance of His constant perfection, love and support are the most vital components of our "new selves".

Great point Jody. I am in charge of our school's first chapel of the year and I plan to focus on New Year's resolutions because our theme of the year is about transformation. I think I will make reference to this reminder that God does not change and that we can take comfort in that.
