Friday, March 16th

Today's passage from the Chronological Bible In a Year Reading Plan is  Deuteronomy 14-16.
Today's scripture focus is Hebrews 13:15-16.

15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess his name. 16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

Jewish Christians no longer needed to offer sacrifices as an act of worship.  Instead they could offer God a sacrifice of praise because of Jesus' sacrifice.

Nowadays our ears are filled with people carelessly or derisively using God's name profanely.  But our lips should confess God's name in praise.  And in telling others about Him, His love and His sacrifice on our behalf.

Sacrifices of praise, doing good and sharing with others are the sacrifices God is pleased with.  Sacrifices made out of gratefulness for His sacrifice, out of love for our Rescuer and in order to share Him and His love with a watching world that needs Him more than they know.

Tomorrow's scripture focus: Hebrews 13:17
Tomorrow's Bible In a Year Passage passage:  Deuteronomy 17-20

Continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise. Definitely something to keep in mind and to work on. And you are right about hearing people use God's name profanely. Everywhere! All the time! It's so easy to stop noticing when you hear something so often.
