Thursday, December 6 ~ Miriam

Today's passage from the Chronological Bible In a Year Reading Plan is 2 Corinthians 10-13.
Today's scripture focus is Romans 11:33-36.

33 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and[a] knowledge of God!
    How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
34 “Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?”[b]
35 “Who has ever given to God,
    that God should repay them?”[c]
36 For from him and through him and for him are all things.
To him be the glory forever! Amen.

Praise be to the Lord!  I think sometimes we forget to just praise God for who He is.  We thank and praise Him for what He's done in our lives, in our families' and friends' lives, in our church and our community, in the world, what he's created, but how often do we simply praise Him for who He is?

Oh the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!  God sees all, knows all, created ALL.  Nothing escapes his notice.  Nothing is incomprehensible or impossible for Him.  Everything is incomprehensible and impossible for us by comparison!  What little wisdom and knowledge we may have pales in comparison and comes from Him in the first place!

How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!  Who has known the mind of the Lord?  Or who has been his counselor?  God does what is just and right according to HIS standards, and we are not capable of understanding it because we cannot see or know what He sees and knows.  He sees everything that ever happened and everything that ever will happen and works everything together accordingly.  We see tiny, tiny fragments, and based on that, we think we know what should happen next?  We think we're going to tell Him how our lives should go?  Ridiculous!  (But so hard not to do!)

Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?  What could God possibly owe us?  We owe HIM everything!  Our very existence is only because of Him.  Our salvation comes from Him.  Our talents and gifts and abilities and blessings are all from him.  Our weaknesses and hurts and painful circumstances and consequences are all known to Him and He is with us through all of them if we lean on Him.  What could He possibly owe us?  We can never even hope to balance the scales, much less tip them in our favour.

For from him and through him and for him are all things.  To him be the glory forever!  Amen.

Tomorrow's scripture focus:  Romans 12:1-2.

So true that we need to praise God simply for who He is.

I love this passage of Scripture!
